Mental Health Clinician

Summary: 

This is a per diem clinician role located in Greenfield, MA. Ideal candidate will have Monday-Friday day time availability.


The Clinician evaluates and treats the mental disorders and co-existing substance abuse problems of patients. He/she performs quality social work and case management services to patients and their families in an individual and group setting. Such quality care involves developing a solid aftercare plan for the patient upon discharge. The Clinician also conducts all necessary administrative tasks to support the patient's admission and treatment.

He/She assists the Supervisor/Manager in managing the therapeutic milieu, insuring patient needs are met. The PHP Clinician has considerable clinical and administrative responsibility, with supervision from the PHP Supervisor and Medical Director.

The Clinician is accountable to the Supervisor/Manager he/she is an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, and interacts not only with clinical staff of but with the larger community, such as referral agencies, community resource networks, and hospital patients, their families, and BFMC staff and volunteers. The Clinician also participates fully in all BFMC and BMC initiatives.

Job Responsibilities: 

1) Conduct intakes, treatment plans, individual and family meetings, ongoing clinical assessment, discharge planning, group therapy, case coordination and referrals, crisis assessment and intervention and all other clinical tasks as assigned by PHP Supervisor.

2) Assist Supervisor in managing PHP milieu daily and responding to patient's clinical and administrative needs in a timely fashion.

3) Facilitate group therapy sessions which help patients learn and practice skills, access support, and develop new strategies to better manage symptoms and problematic life situations.

4) Perform key administrative tasks, including charting in CIS, obtaining appropriate authorizations from patients' insurance providers, reconciling billing with CIS, and all other administrative tasks as needed and/or assigned by PHP Supervisor. Comply with JAHCO standards re: documentation.

5) Participate with and utilize the Multidisciplinary Team in order to offer highest quality of care to patients. Attend Patient Rounds weekly.

6) Make all appropriate referrals to ensure quality aftercare to ease patient's reentry in a lower level of care. Facilitate open communication with community resource agencies as well as other hospital departments as needed.

7) In PHP Supervisor's absence, collaborate with other team members to ensure patient's needs are addressed.

8) Assist Supervisor and Medical Director in developing and implementing processes and procedures

10) Adhere to BHS and department compliance policies, and any applicable laws and regulations.

11) At Supervisor/Manager or Medical Director's discretion, assume additional roles and responsibilities as needed

12) Demonstrates and models principals of service excellence in support of the patient experience and SPIRIT program.
