Counselor Psych Unit Baystate Wing Hospital

As a Counselor in the Inpatient Parker Psych Unit at Baystate Wing Hospital, your essential functions inlcude:
  • Performs a wide range of functions related to the care and treatment of our patients;
    • these functions include participating in the multidisciplinary team approach to patient care
    • providing a safe and therapeutic environment and documentation of such
    • demonstrates knowledge of the developmental stages and applies developmental theories and concepts when planning and implementing activities
  • To include facilitating groups (after shadowing and training with a licensed clinician), conducting activities with patients, maintaining safety of the unit, and participating with the treatment team
  • Incumbent is expected to adhere to System and department compliance policies, and any and all applicable laws and regulations
  • Incumbent is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned
What you will need?
  • Associate's Degree Psychology, Education or related Human Service field.  Will consider job related experience
  • Experience working with individuals in a behavioral health setting
  • CPR Certification Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must complete initial CPI training within 60 days of employment
  • Age Specific Competencies in- service or equivalent training
  • Behavior Management Training/Collaborative Problem Solving
  • Restraint and Seclusion in service or equivalent training
Position located in the Inpatient Parker Psych Unit at Baystate Wing Hospital, Palmer, MA
Full-time, 36 Hours/Week, 11:00 pm to 7:30 am shift including rotating weekends and holidays
