Baystate Health is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacist

What You Will Do:

As the Inpatient Pharmacist you will be under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, the clinical pharmacist will perform a variety of duties including; age appropriate clinical pharmacy services, evaluation of medication orders for appropriateness, monitoring and patient follow up; drug information consultations, and support of the pharmacy department operations.  The clinical pharmacist will maintain competency, training, and ongoing education of pharmaceutical knowledge, integrated technology, and practice model changes.  It is the expectation of the clinical pharmacist to complete and document the appropriate tasks required to maintain patient specific record keeping in an electronic database.  Such documentation may include Clinical Interventions, Safety Reporting Events, etc.  As an integrated member of the Pharmacy Team, the clinical pharmacist is expected to actively participate in working committees, participate and engage in educational activities and oversee Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE)/Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) students as appropriate.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Maintains compliance with the departmental expectations of accurately reviewing, verifying, and dispensing all pharmaceuticals in compliance with the departmental policies and procedures including regulatory compliance measures.
  • Have a clear understanding of the questions and efficiently retrieves pertinent patient specific information to research and formulate an accurate response in a timely manner
  • Direct oversight and provides supportive direction to the pharmacy technician staff when appropriate
  • Demonstrates the minimum requirements as determined by the Pharmacy Leadership Team surrounding the clinical and operational tasks within the main pharmacy, USP 797 sterile compounding, and integrated pharmacy technology
  • Documents and manages controlled substances in accordance with all state and federal guidelines
  • Maintains compliance in utilizing the following modes of communication as deemed appropriate per the BH and BMC Pharmacy policies and procedures: email, web paging, shift to shift communication logs, and verbal hand off.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Pharmacy is required
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy is preferred
  • PGY-1 Residency or at least 3 years of Hospital Pharmacy experience
  • Registered Pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts is required
  • Board Certification (BPS) is preferred

What You Need To Know:

  • Full-time night shift clinical pharmacist
  • 10hr shifts, rotating every other weekend and holidays.
  • Shift times are 8:30pm-7:00am
