“Baystate Health is looking to hire a Medical Device Engineer focusing on networked devices”.
The Medical Device Network Engineer is a seasoned individual contributor who applies an advanced, in-depth knowledge of technical concepts, practices, operational needs and integration for Baystate Health networked medical devices.
Incumbents are fully competent to work on complex assignments and perform a full range of technical support activities. The incumbent will act as a member of quick-response support teams and will often work under demanding deadlines, operating independently to resolve complex design/configuration problems. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The incumbent will conduct, or assist with conducting, designing, planning, implementing and operationalization of all networked medical device technologies as related to the infrastructure.
This position is accountable for technical management and design of the Baystate Health networked medical device environment and related systems to guarantee timely, efficient, accurate and uninterrupted service to the patient care environment. The position accomplishes the above through a combination of planning, technical analysis, design, and technical management of system functions consistent with Baystate policies and procedures
This position provides support to our clinical partners on a variety of issues. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical hardware and software problems. Develops and documents procedures used by other technicians. Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other junior personnel.
This position is expected to take a Technical Leadership role with less seasoned team members and within the Clinical Engineering Department.
What You Will Do:
Directs defining the value of proposed initiatives and viable technical solutions that address the requirements BH healthcare delivery as related to networked medical devices.
Leads in the design and documentation of technical specifications and business requirements.
Leads through guidance and collaboration the installation, upgrades, backups,security and maintenance of networked medical devices
Work with outside vendors as needed to secure repairs and parts. Monitor completion of activities performed by outside vendors.
Participates or leads project teams to implement complex solutions that meet the organization's goals and objectives.
Creates thorough test plans and performs all relevant testing of programs and integrations including unit, system, functional, regression, stress/load, integrated and disaster recovery.
Coordinates to ensure projects are executed according to plan.
Served as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in their specialized area.
Attend meetings, conferences, seminars and classes as requested.
Under support and guidance of team leadership, ensures sufficient backup for their responsibilities is established. .
Observe all health and safety requirements, maintain standards of practice consistent throughout BH, and ensure that the records are in compliance with safety codes set out by regulatory agencies such as the Joint Commission, Department of Public Health (DPH), HIPAA, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and National Electrical Code (NEC)
Informs team leadership of progress, plans and issues.
Manages work to ensure adherence to established and approved timelines
Promotes system change management process follows all change control procedures.
Promotes a team environment. Mentors and works closely with all partners.
Configure and builds systems per technical and functional specifications
Writes functional and technical specifications for system modifications and enhancements to meet business requirements
Meets with partners regularly to understand their operations, identify optimization opportunities, review current project and work, and discuss open systems issues. Proactively monitor partner satisfaction to ensure the systems continue to meets their needs
Participates in the development of training documentation and curriculum, along with the training department resources and, if necessary, assist in the training of applications.
Leads vendor and resource management activities.
Minimally Required Education: High School / GED
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
Minimally Required Experience: 5 years of experience in supporting complex networks and devices in healthcare environments.
Preferred Expreience: 3 years full-time experience as a Clinical Engineer or Biomedical Technician with 2 years demonstrated success in service to specialized networked medical devices included but not limited to: anesthesia machines, ventilators, cardiac monitors, Sleep Study and imaging technologies
