Baystate Health is hiring a Team Leader in Patient Accounting!

Summary:  

The Team Leader is responsible for, in conjunction with the Unit Supervisor, the training of staff, procedure development and maintaining payer guidelines. The Team Leader will be expected to make recommendations to the Supervisor on workflow issues and educational opportunities with staff.  The Team Leader is expected to lead the unit in the absence of the Supervisor and attend meetings as needed.  In addition, the Team Leader will have daily job responsibilities that they are expected to accomplish.

The Team Leader works closely with their unit, as well as working with team leaders from other  PA units and Baystate Health service areas.  The incumbent must maintain a current working knowledge of Part A payer methodologies, regulations and guidelines.  The Team Leader will have the ability to analyze and make recommendations on ways to improve and enhance the functions of the unit.

What You Will Do: 

Assists supervisor in staff training, including review of new and updated procedures with staff, new payer codes and guideline review, and monitors and supports new employees with the primary functions of their position

Provides coverage of unit during supervisor absence, including attending meetings and handling operational issues and questions.

Assists supervisor in development of policies and procedures and maintains and updates all policy and payer manuals

Monitors backlogs and makes recommendation to correct

Performs Quality Control functions in conjunction with the supervisor and updates appropriate spreadsheets (If applicable)

Attends and actively participates in inter/intra-departmental meetings

Reviews and processes write offs, worklists, correspondence, and reports for the unit

What You Will Need: 

Minimally Required Education:   High School / GED 

Preferred Education:  Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred

Minimally Required Experience:  Minimun of f3 years of medical facility billing experience

Skills / Competencies: 

  • Proficiency with database and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and implementation skills.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of hospital billing applications.
