The purpose of this position is to serve as a Process Improvement Specialist/Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Black Belt, responsible for providing project leadership and technical support in the creation, management, and sustainment of a methodical approach to increasing quality and performance throughout assigned business areas.  This position reports to the System Director for Performance Improvement

The Process Improvement Specialist serves as a change agent, developing, coordinating, facilitating and leading complex Lean Six Sigma Black Belt continuous improvement projects at the system, management and operations levels in order to achieve measurable and beneficial impacts to schedule, quality, cost and risk characteristics for business processes.

Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses to support attaining project team goals and objectives; trains/coaches members in the use of process improvement principles, methods and techniques and the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) and Lean continuous improvement processes.  Functions as facilitator for LSS-related training.

During the course of a project, the Process Improvement Specialist is responsible for: drafting the project charter; documenting the project's business case and developing the project proposal; working with managers to define project goals and then working with associates and managers to achieve those goals; developing and implementing project metrics and measurement systems; working with project sponsors and champions to formulate and implement improvement project groups and select the group members; assisting the project sponsors and champions to sustain project results; providing consultation and advice to project sponsors and champions, and to senior executives during project review panels and executive steering committees; preparing and submitting project reports, executive summaries, and presentations to senior executives; and using the strategic plans, goals and policies to ensure Lean Six Sigma Black Belt projects support senior leader intent.

Excellent analytical skills.  Superb communication skills, both written and verbal.  Demonstrated change agent, self-starter and team player who posseses substantial interpersonal skills.  Able to work independently and handle multiple priorities.  Capable of leading change and challenging the status quo while working diplomatically to keep stakeholders engaged.  Understands context of assignments and tasks and is able to be flexible and adapt to changing roles and priorities.

Attends appropriate in-service education/seminars to improve skills, within budgetary constraints. Observe all health and safety requirements.  Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.

REQUIRED:

Bachelor's Degree Required

Must have Lean skills with demonstrated success; minimum of 2 years experience using Lean principles; preferably in healthcare.

PREFERRED:

Master's Degree Applicable Engineering discipline, Healthcare Administration ore Business preferred

Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Certificate Preferred

Skillful in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to a broad range of functional areas related to Lean Six Sigma and commercial quality practices. 

Excellent judgment, objectivity, ability to work with others, with strong communication & presentation skills, and the ability to develop innovative and feasible solutions to complex issues in which the boundaries are broad and difficult to determine in advance. 

Excellence in organizing the details of multiple and related subjects, issues, and situations to present and recommend solutions in a logical, cohesive format. 

Able to develop and deliver effective training, including knowledge of techniques, and tools required to design, develop, maintain, and conduct training/course content. 

Ability to identify and prioritize key customer issues to be addressed by projects and products. 

Full working knowledge of various software and spreadsheet applications used in process mapping, process design / redesign, and workflow management. 

Superior teamwork skills, both as a leader and a team member  

Effective change management skills 

Strong sense of ownership and high level of accountability. 

Ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

Hours/Schedule:  Full-time 40 hours, 8:00am-4:30pm
